A condolence motion was passed in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the demise of Samajwadi Party sitting MLA Sudhakar Singh, on the opening day of the winter session on Friday.

The House observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to him. Following this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Monday.

On the occasion, the leader of the opposition and Samajwadi Party leader in the House, Mata Prasad Pandey, said that Sudhakar Singh was a popular and efficient public representative. He said that he had a deep connection with the people, and his death has caused an irreparable loss to the party. Mata Prasad Pandey prayed for the peace of the departed soul and said that his contribution to the party was invaluable.

Those who paid tributes included Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, former minister and MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, Congress leader of the house Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, and the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party in the House, Umashankar Singh.

All of them described Sudhakar Singh’s death as a great loss to the field of politics and public service and expressed their condolences to his family.

It is noteworthy that 67-year-old Sudhakar Singh, the Samajwadi Party MLA from Ghosi constituency, passed away a few days ago while undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow.

Before the commencement of the proceedings, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said that the winter session Legislative Assembly is starting today. “Unfortunately, one of our honourable members has passed away, and there is a programme to pay tribute to him, after which the House will be adjourned. From Monday to December 24, the House will function with full dedication along with other legislative business,” the Speaker said.
